Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Port Dickson is located 5 km from Port Dickson and 27 km from Seremban. Initially, this school had offered two streams such as vocational and skills stream. In the vocational stream, there are 9 courses provided in this school as follow:

Machine Shop
Automotive
Building Construction
Electric
Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication
Air-conditioning and Refrigeration
Office Management
Business Management

Skills stream have 7 to 14 courses depending to the acceptable years.

The school is built in the swampy area within 29 acre. Based on this situation, about 2 metre in depth was needed to level the area. The construction had started on the 2^nd of December 1985 under the Asian Development Bank and will be completed in the middle of 1988. A little bit problems occurred during the development, at last this school had been hand over to Ministry of Education on 15^th of March 1989.

First batch students had been registered on the 20^th of February 1989 under an agreement from the Ministry of Education before the school building being hand over. At that time, 306 students, 2 clerks and 16 teachers. During the school opening ceremony, there was no principle at that moment. Therefore, Ministry of Education had ordered Mr Azis Rashid as Acting Principle until the first principle registered in the 1^st January 1990. The first principle for this school is Mr P Periasamy

Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Port Dickson had upgraded to become Sekolah Menengah Teknik Port Dickson in 1996. Today, SMTPD offered three streams in Technical, Vocational and Skills Certificate. In the technical stream, there are Electrical & Electronic, Civil and Mechanical Engineering and Commerce.
